Purple Hill Records has released a new solo album by Marchildon! entitled, Please Pass the Potatoes. The latest instalment to the Marchildon! repertoire sounds something like 6o’s Lou Reed being backed by The International Submarine Band.  Passionate and poetic, loose and literal, this odd coupling of styles is what allows Marchildon! to not only discover new musical territories , but to speak directly from the heart. Recorded and mixed in various spaces throughout Toronto by long time collaborator Jordan Bruce, the 7 song album finds Marchildon! reflecting on the simplicity of happiness, seen through the lens of family life.

Unlike the jangly velvet induced twang of 2016’s Night Screamer, Please Pass The Potatoes offers up a healthy dose of stripped down, poetically potent, acoustic dynamics, highlighting the ragged corners that make up Marchildon!. The reputable Rawckus Magazine from California had this to say about Marchildon!’s music:

The balance between old and new, normative and perverse, expected and unexpected, is what allows Marchildon! to move beyond the folk-artist label and earn his punk cred.”

Please Pass The Potatoes was released worldwide on Friday May 4th 2018.
